At last night’s 2012 FiFi Fragrance Awards to celebrate and honor the art, passion and personalities of the fragrance world, Golden Globe and Emmy winning actress and comedian Jane Lynch brought the house down with her opening remarks that went something like this:
“I’m honored to be here tonight to serve as your host. Selecting me as host makes perfect sense, because when you think of a sexy, delicate and floral fragrance, you think, “Jane Lynch.”

Every awards ceremony, from the Grammys to the Oscars to yes, even the FiFis, strives to mirror the excellence of the people they are honoring. Many look to the Oscars as a source of inspiration for their own events. Here is just a little sample of what we took away from this year’s Academy Awards Celebration.
10. “Undefeated” Delivers Prerequisite Live Broadcast Slip-Up

What would an Oscars telecast be without someone dropping an F-Bomb? Last year it was Melissa Leo, this year the co-director of “Undefeated.” These little slips highlight the sheer exuberance experienced by winners. In that moment, auto-pilot takes over and unfortunately sometimes veers winners off the road, if not into straight into a tree. It also demonstrates how every category (from documentary to animated short to editing) has its diehards. What are your thoughts on these gaffes? Offensive or forgiveable?

This year, our little FiFi Awards blog celebrates its fourth birthday. Like you, our birthday has us feeling a bit nostalgic. It’s truly been amazing these years witnessing the many exciting changes in the online fragrance world, closely accompanying the lightning fast pace of new technology. Through it all, it has been four wonderful years lovingly dedicated to celebrating the many joys of fragrance.
It’s amazing how much we’ve grown. What began as a simple conversation about exploring MySpace as a new gathering area for fragrance aficionados, quickly grew like a flower, blossoming into multiple online presences including Facebook, Iqons, YouTube, WordPress and Twitter. Each new iteration offering people a closer look behind the scenes of all the events leading up to the biggest night in fragrance, The FiFi Awards.
